Virtual Curating with MoFA Team

Published July 28, 2020

The MoFA Team is excited to bring you our new exhibition, New Landscapes. In our Home Work Video Blog, we explore virtual curation and discuss the origins of the exhibition and its programming.

Over the past several months, the MoFA Team has been working in partnership with new friends at Paradigm, a web design and curation support firm, and established friends at Arts4All Florida to develop and share with MoFA’s diverse audiences (near and far) a virtual summer show to kick-off MoFA’s return to more active exhibitions-focused programming.  Virtual curating presents a range of new and different challenges.  Where once we labored to build (from wood), paint (with latex), label (with machine cut vinyl), and light (with high-efficiency LED fixtures), we worked alongside graphic designers and programmers to fashion a gallery out of code in which we have installed digital images of dozens of wonderful works.  We have Zoomed.  We have written interpretations. We have recorded voiceovers.  We have grappled with ornery fonts, links, and image resolutions.  We have developed fun art-making activities that you can do from home and a new platform for sharing your creativity.  We have made several exciting additions to MoFA’s Permanent Collection of contemporary photographic works.  And now, it is here.

We invite you to visit New Landscapes an exhibition of contemporary photography from MoFA’s Permanent Collection and on loan from selected artists.
