Rite of Passage & Rite of Spring: MoFA & the 2018 Graduating Artists

Published March 22, 2018

Graduating Artist Myron Morgan, BFA 2012, and retinue arrive at MoFA for an evening performance.

April 13, 6:00-8:00pm

The Museum of Fine Arts hosts three Graduating Artist exhibitions every year, but by far the largest graduating class occurs at the close of Spring semester when both BFA and MFA students attain degrees following their individual thesis exhibitions.  The students have historically created wonders, great and small. So much charged energy and goodwill packs the house at Spring graduation every year that it’s an exhibition MoFA looks forward to publicizing. We never know what’s coming, even now as we gear up for an imminent installation week, the ground is constantly shifting. Invention strikes like lightning and initially unplanned student work may suddenly come together in a rush for transport from Carnaghi Arts Building, or from the sculpture lab or from any other studio. Fortunately, the shipping distance to MoFA is negligible, yet ambitious works are often quite large.

MoFA staff hope that you will celebrate with the students at an exciting opening evening on April 13 from 6:00-8:00pm. The exhibition runs through May 3 when the artists pack their cars, vans, and U-Haul trucks to move to the next phase of their fabulous lives. Museum hours are Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:00pm and Saturday and Sunday 1:00-4:00pm.
