NASA x Old Skool “Space Voyager” by Vans (2018)

In 2018, Vans commemorated 60-years of NASA space exploration by launching a tribute series inspired by features and textures of the original flight suits, moon boots, and logos. This Old Skool “Space Voyager” in orange leather has rover tread outsoles and removable American flag patches at the heels. Astronauts used Velcro during the Apollo missions to anchor equipment in in zero gravity situations. Although Swiss engineer George de Mestral invented the synthetic hook and loop fastener in the 1940s, Velcro has since been associated with space programs around the world.
