The Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts hosted its Third Annual Roaming Art & Wine Tour on February 5.
More than 100 guests including President Richard McCullough and First Lady Jai Vartikar attended the event, exploring the museum’s exhibitions, “HOMO SARGASSUM,” which runs through March 8, and “The Quilts of Mrs. Gussie Beatrice Arnold Hill,” which closed on February 8.
“For the past three years, the Roaming Art & Wine Tour has been a fun and exciting event that allows our patrons to connect more deeply with our exhibits and get to know our MoFA team,” said Kaylee Spencer, Director of the Museum. “We are incredibly grateful for their continued support. Without them, the world-class exhibits, community programming, and educational opportunities at MoFA would not be possible.”
This year’s event also featured classical guitar from student Carlos Guevarra and an improvised dance performance by students Marielle Richardson and Yuki Colombo, inspired by “The Quilts of Mrs. Gussie Beatrice Arnold Hill.”
Sommelier Amanda Morrison-Corbella of Poco Vino chose a selection of wines for the event which celebrated visual arts, including Szigeti’s Blanc de Blancs Brut featuring Gustav Klimt’s ‘Adele’ and Tenuta di Ceppaiano’s Red Blend featuring work by Keith Haring. The stories behind these artist-winery collaborations enhanced the tasting experience for all. At the end of the evening, guests had the opportunity to purchase their favorite bottle with limited-edition wine charms featuring the FSU Museum of Fine Arts logo.
The event raised more than $10,000 to support the museum’s exhibitions and educational programming.
MoFA is home to a permanent collection of more than 7,000 objects and presents exhibitions of historical and contemporary artworks that contribute meaningfully to the scholarship and conversations that sustain the civic and intellectual life at FSU and in the Tallahassee community. As the capital city’s only fine art museum accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, MoFA fosters collaboration, creativity, and critical engagement.
Those unable to participate in this year’s Roaming Art and Wine Tour can still make a contribution to the museum by visiting give.fsu.edu/museum.
