Zora Neale Hurston’s most well renowned work is coming to MoFA and Foster-Tanner! Join Leah Delaney, an English instructor and doctoral student at Florida State University, in a two part book club and discussion on “Their Eyes Were Watching God” this Spring.

The first meeting will be held on February 22nd at the Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts and cover chapters 1 through 9. The second will occur two weeks after on March 7th at the Foster-Tanner Fine Arts Gallery to conclude the novel. Both meetings will span from 11 am to 12 pm. And both sessions are free and open to the public!

More about the book:
As the novel states “there are years that ask questions, and years that answer,” it follows a young girl named Janie through her youth in the small town of Eatonville, Florida, to the moment she finds herself and her independence in the midst of a hurricane on Lake Okeechobee. Janie enters the storm lost and searching, experiences great trauma during its onset, then emerges from the disaster stronger than ever, with a new sense of purpose and perspective on life.
