The Museum of Fine Arts (MoFA) will host the Annual Art Faculty Exhibition from January 7 through 31, with a reception on January 11 at 6pm. The faculty of the Department of Art at Florida State University is comprised of accomplished teachers, artists, and scholars. Their work crosses media, concepts, and influences and nourishes a community of students and colleagues. MoFA is excited to show new work by this exemplary group of artists.

This year’s exhibition will feature two new faculty members from the department – Allison Spence and Jessica Ingram. Professor Spence joined Florida State University this fall after teaching at American University and Piedmont College. She utilizes painting, collage, and sculpture to create images and objects that illustrate the humanity and the grotesque in science. This fall she taught courses in the foundations program, introducing students in the Department of Art to a contemporary and critical approach to art making.

Professor Ingram, who teaches photography, came to FSU from California College of the Arts. Originally from Tennessee, she returns to the south to expand upon her already significant body of work exploring the historical and contemporary iconography of the Civil Rights Movement. In her expansive research practice, she draws from oral histories, archival ephemera, and contemporaneous images to explore public memory and its physical imprint. Professor Ingram’s book “Road Through Midnight: A Civil Rights Memorial” will be published by the University of North Carolina Press in the fall of 2019.
